Big L left us thirteen years ago on this date. He's generally counted among the greatest, despite a thin catalog and a career cut short by tragedy. L was an unfulfilled gem who displayed lyrical wizardry on songs like "MVP" and the wildly cherished "Ebonics," though he never matched the successes of Children of the Corn alumni Mase and Cam'ron nor the momentary pop recognition of DITC comrade Fat Joe. He was a gem nonetheless -- he placed #23 on my Greatest MCs list.
The one Big L moment that really sticks out to me is still "Devil's Son" -- that song still scares the crap outta me. What...
